What a great day!
A big thank you to Auntie Dawn & Ben who helped to post leaflets in the days leading up to the event. Jack loved pushing his little cousin around in the pram, and thank you to Uncle David who designed and printed posters and Lauren & Megan and Auntie Dawn for preparing the 'Guess the bears name'.
The day started with a lot of balloon blowing, setting up equipment, preparing curry, and inflating the bouncy castle. Unfortunately, the weather was pretty much like it has been most of the summer wet and miserable. At 12:45 the rather impressive
Pink Hummer Limousine arrived courtesy of CLH Limousines. A huge big thank you to Craig & Lindsy and the boys for coming down on the day and for offering the free hire of the limousine as a fantastic raffle prize. As you can see from the pic Sam was the first to have a sit in it. I don't think she wanted to get out! With the weather being so bad the bouncy castle was only up for a couple of hours, still the kids still had fun on it Jack especially. (cheers to Cleggy for letting us borrow it).
So off we all went indoors to be entertained for the day by Bro - I think all he was missing was a red nose and a wig. He could maybe think about being a children's entertainer in the future. Lauren and her friends were great they set up a corner where they spent most of the day painting everybody's face (even Wendy the Landlady). They had t-shirts made for the day and baked cakes with Jack's initials on them. I have never seen so much energy as I did with these girls! When not face painting and selling cakes, they were dancing.
I was busy in the kitchen most of the day helping with the food. I was kept in a steady supply of stella which was a bonus. Wendy had got hot dogs, chips, ice creams, chocolates and pop for all the kids. (she loves a good party!) Maj was preparing his special curry. It was a great success. We did save Terry and Wendy a bowl each but found out off Wendy that she loved it that much she ate Terry's (he does not know yet!).
Throughout the day Sam went round all the locals selling raffle tickets with her mum - what stars they both were.
Jack had a great day playing on the bouncy castle, then I think he had a sleep for an hour. Sam again was great and took him around the pub and out to see the limo. Jack really took to Sam and I think Ali even asked whether she would like to spend more time with him.
