What a fantastic evening organised by Patsy & Paul Bancroft at Childwall Golf Club !

The Valentine Dinner and Dance on Saturday February 14th was a complete sell out and was a resounding success, a great night was enjoyed by everyone who was lucky enough to obtain tickets. There was a ‘warm’ atmosphere all night helped along by the pink cava welcoming drink on arrival for all guests, and background music courtesy of David of BDB Entertainments. The impressive themed décor for the night, loads of hearts, flowers and reds, was admired by everyone. The ‘singing’ balloons took lots of people by surprise. ! !

Our MC for the evening, Mr. Eddie Beattie, welcomed everybody and announced the ‘main mission’ was to have a good evening, and outlined that the proceeds of the evening were to help send Jack to the Son-Rise Treatment Center in America which specializes in curing children with autism. Eddie pointed out the fantastic range of raffle prizes on offer, with special emphasis on the ‘red’ contingent, (I wonder who he supports), and asking everyone to‘dig deep’, and they sure did, but more about that later ! ! !.

Special thanks were then given to:-

Paul Kelly of St Edwards Golf Society who donated £1000,
North West Construction who also donated £1000, and
Frank Ainsworth of Cal Systems who donated £2000. (this was only stated as £1000)

Eddie, who was given special permission by Matilda to donate his time for the night, then thanked:-

Freddie Peacock of Ensign Contractors for arranging the Everton Team Shirt and Ball,
John Yates for donating the star prize of the night,(wonder who I support), a framed Duncan Ferguson shirt,
Patsy for cajoling the LFC shirts from her mate at Melwood,
Keith Corcoran for donating the signed LFC ball,
Jim and Julie from the Hare and Hounds for their donation of a weeks accommodation in their Luxury Villa in Spain ( this was later increased to 2 weeks ! ! ! !) absolutely superb ! ! !, and,
The Sensational Paul Price, our singer for the evening, and David of BDB Entertainments who provided their services free of charge.

The meal was then served and the fabulous fayre, carrot and coriander soup, rack of lamb and strawberry/chocolate mousse basket, with a choice of red Barolo or Pinot Grigio white wine was enjoyed by all, served speedily and very efficiently by the Golf Club catering staff, well done to all concerned.

The evening entertainment began with The Sensational Paul Price who defied the effects of a very bad bout of flu to sing a few songs before introducing his friend from Haydock, Phil Summers who soon had the dance floor bouncing with his guitar and vocal entertainment. Meanwhile, Patsy, Julie, Anita and Barbara swiftly collected all the raffle envelopes and the draws took place hosted by Eddie and ably assisted by Keith Corcoran. The host of fabulous prizes were delightfully received by all the lucky winners and a nice surprise was announced for all the ladies present when they were asked to look inside their placenames to find a raffle ticket which could win one of the fantastic floral table decorations supplied by Patsy.( Eddie raised a big laugh when he said ‘it will save you robbing them’ ! ! !).

The second half entertainment was opened once again by The Sensational Paul Price who sang a Neil Diamond medley before handing over to David for the rest of the evening, the dance floor soon filled up and there were some real good movers. (There were some real bad ones too but we wont mention names, you know who you are ! ! ! ! ) Only joking, honest. ! !

Sadly, the night had to end before carriages at midnight. Keith Corcoran rounded off proceedings for the evening by asking Patsy and Paul to join him at the front and thanking them for all the hard work which had gone in to making the evening a resounding success. The ‘main mission’ was definitely achieved. !!! He then invited yours truly, Jack’s grandad, to say a few words to finish off the proceedings. It was very difficult because everybody had already been thanked, or nearly everybody. ! Eddie couldn’t thank himself, so a big ‘thank you’ to Eddie for keeping the evening going to plan, and to the bar staff and catering staff for all their good work.

A special thank you then to Patsy and Paul on behalf of Jack and his mum Alison, who sent a bouquet of flowers for Patsy and a bottle of whiskey for Paul, in appreciation for all that they had done. The total raised on the evening was then announced as £5085 which raised gasps and very deserved tumultuous applause. This was actually £6085 with the extra donation from Cal systems.

A truly fantastic response from everyone present who certainly did respond to Eddie’s plea at the start of the evening to‘dig deep’. This total has since risen to £6520 thanks, in part, to Childwall Golf Club who donated the booking fee to Jack’s Appeal fund.

A VERY BIG BIG THANK YOU TO ALL WHO CONTRIBUTED TO SUCH AN AWESOME AMOUNT
